On my recent trip to taiwan, I saw many cute crafts like miniature lollies, cakes and all. As well as, my friend, she gave me the idea of setting up my own blogshop selling clay accessories (:! thanks pam!

Actually I kinda lost count, hahas! but almost close to 150 so far to think of it, I really have to thank my friends for their support, for introducing their friends to my shop. thanks guys!


4. Any fun moments during your work ?
Yep, many in fact, (laughs) there was once I was doing my clay crafts with my friend then we can up with superb weird ideas, like making toothbrush out of clay and crazy ideas like that but it was fun!


5. Do you gals face any difficulties starting this shop?
Actually yes, there was a period of time when I was busy worrying that my items won’t sell because people might not like them but in the end, it turned to be quite okay (: and as well as times facing deadbuyers or buyers who simply go MIA after reserving my stuffs,
I really can’t stand them.


6. Whats your items price range like?
Initially a few of my customers gave feedbacks that my items are too expensive, thus I made some adjustments to my pricings (: so now everything should be more affordable. Around less than $10 for earrings and charms, and less than $15 for necklaces.

I started my online accessories and jewellery shop, Beads of Lav in April 2006.

2. Whats makes u want to have this online shop?
Creating accessories and jewellery started as a hobby, like many other fellow beaders. As Singaporeans become more comfortable with online shopping, I thought it would be a good idea to showcase my creations online to hopefully find admirers, people who would love my works of love and creativity. Also, as a mother of a baby, this online shop marries the convenience/ease of operating it and the need to remain at home.

3. Do u still remember how many items u have sell so far ;p ?
At the moment, I have sold about 200 items

4. Any fun moments during your work ?
The fun comes mainly from the inspiration and creation process. There are times when I could not sleep at night because many ideas are bursting in my mind and they are calling out to me to go to my jewellery making corner. It’s like..seeing visions of beautfiful jewellery and accessories. I could not go to bed unless I create them or at least note down the designs.

5. How about any bad moments! Do u have any?
Definitely. Writers have writer’s block, so do jewellery beaders’. There are frustrating times when my ideas do not work. The created item just doesn’t look as nice as I have thought. Furthermore, as a perfectionist, when I’m unhappy with my creation, I’ll undo everything and recreate it. So, it becomes a very time consuming process at times.

6. Where u get your ideas from?
Sometimes, I get mental pictures or images of designs suddenly in my mind. They just appear (Thank God for such an inspiration). At other times, the mental pictures come to me when I look at the charms, beads etc that I have and as I play around with them.Of course, I also get inspired by what’s currently hot & trendy, by the korean dramas I watch and last but most importantly, by my baby!

7. Whats your items price range like?
My items are usually between $10 to $40, depending on the materials used. If customers request for better quality materials like 14k gold and 925 silver items, it will be pricer.

We started this online fashion site about more than 3 months ago, during our summer break.

2. Whats makes u gals think of starting this online shop?
Actually, there are many reasons why. Firstly, we love shopping online, especially sprees! We love the thrill of spotting nice stuff within a limited time span and secure our orders! However, we did encounter a few times when we were rather disappointed with the quality of the items we bought online. We were thinking, how nice it would be if there’s a website that describes the clothes and offers a wide selection of nice stuff.And moreover, the 2 of us are really interested in fashion! We always read fashion magazines and go shopping! Like every week. It’s really our passion and interest. So, one fine day, we were thinking…why not we start a fashion site ourselves! And try our best to offer a collection of nice clothes to people!3. Do u still remember how many items u have sell so far ;p ?
Wow, this is a hard one. Hmm…because we release a new series every week, so we really lost track of how many items we have sold. But approximately, we are always able to reach 80-90% of sales every series. And sometimes, the whole series will be totally out of stock too! Most of our stock sell very fast once it is launched cos we bring in limited number for most pieces so our customers have to act very fast before their favorite pieces are sold out!!!4. Any fun moments during your work ?
Yup, definitely!! Every time we do purchasing or selection for our new series, we get soo excited and carried away until its like shopping for our own wardrobe! This business really satisfies our cravings for shopping or retail therapy. When school work gets so stressed, we really look forward to purchasing so that in the midst of finding lovely clothes for our customers, we can still shop!

We also love taking photos so after starting this business it really satisfies our narcissist nature cos we get the chance to pose and take photos so much!! Plus we have a professional photographer so it makes our life much easier!!

Oh, another one. Everyday, we look like two little Santa Claus carrying so much clothes and parcels to school to post or meet customers. But we really enjoy doing all these though.5. Do you gals face any difficulties starting this shop?
Yes, definitely. Difficulties like choosing a nice, user-friendly blogskin so that customers have no problem assessing it. And the problem of modeling the clothes, we really considered very carefully over this question. Should we use a mannequin or model those clothes ourselves so that customers can see how it looks like on us? And yet, we don’t take their clothes and model. So we came up with this solution of buying it for ourselves too. In a way we can do mobile advertising and also not expand their clothes.
And lastly, the most difficult obstacle we face would be building up the reputation and image we have now and increasing sales, which really takes time.6. Where u get your clothes from?
Our clothes originate from different countries to ensure diversification. Like for example: Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.7. Whats your items price range like?
Our clothes prices are reasonable. Between $20 to below $40. It really depends on where it is from(clothes from Japan are generally more expensive), the quality or material of the item(chiffon material tops will be steeper) and the type of apparel (Dresses and bags are more expensive)8. Shopofstuffs label was evolved in April 2005 by 2 graduated junior college buddies, Bingzhen and Germain

2. Whats makes u want to have this online shop?
During holidays, being too bored of office jobs and what nots from 9am-5pm, we decided to give ourselves a fun challenge by setting up a new ground for unique and affordable wearables to glam up any attires.
The passion for venturing into the new gives us another mean to be recognised as artists in a fashionistic way to showcase designs to suit seasonal moods with a touch of our individual personailities.

3. Do u still remember how many items u have sell so far ;p ?
Haha, we cannot recall how many pieces we have sold. (Probably around 160 odd pieces? heh) However, we still remember the memoriable designs we adored that adds on as our lane of inspiration to design.

4. Any fun moments during your work ?
Bingzhen: It was fun in the process of drafting out crazy ideas on paper, but then coming out with interesting chiq designs and the fact that they appeal to customers who feedback with compliments create great satisfaction and motivation to create a whole new world of ideas for designing.
Germain: Thinking of new ideas and making friends with customers.

Both: The most memoriable one will be appearing nationally on chinese media weekly magazine i-weekly 27th July issue which send both of us soaring into the sky for joy! We were indeed very proud of each other and honoured to have our beloved “Teddy Swing” to be featured.

5. Since got fun moments of coz there will be bad moments! Do u have any?
Bingzhen and Germain together: Artist block happening when there is a need for creativity to flow which caused us to postpone the designing date so as not to compromise on SOS’ design policy (only as unique as can be and not replicates or anyhow-dos!) and experiences with unethical buyers.

6. Where u get your ideas from?
Bingzhen: Any inspirations from listening to music to reading the top fashion magazines to mother nature!
Germain: Interesting stuffs everywhere! .. haha

7. Whats your items price range like?
Germain: Almost nothing exceeding $25
Bingzhen: We’ll be coming up with a premium exclusive series of SOS designs to be put up at far east plaza, InQBox with prices not exceeding $30+ (watch our shop for more updates!)

Definately!!! The most enjoyable part of creating wearable jewellery is seeing how individual material can be transformed into something so beautiful after being pieced together. The most satisfactory part of my work is to see the excited looks on my customer when selecting their choices.

This online shoe boutique was recently set-up, around mid July 06. I always want to wear pretty shoes that are more original and exclusive. However, I met many situations where I end up wearing the same shoes as strangers or passer-by. Then again, in the retail market, shoes that are not mass-produced are never affordable and many at times, overpriced! Oh Yes! We took a long time to meet a good shoe manufacturer. Perhaps we were stringent on our selections, many of the shoe manufacturers we visited were not up to our expectations.


3. What kind of shoes do u sell?
Our shoes come in two different ranges – our in house designs and an imported collection. Our in house designs are more subtle and versatile. The imported collection is a Japanese brand (made in Taiwan) would be more stunning and eye-catching. We hope to reach out to both groups of ladies.

Size ranges from size 3 to 9.

5. How about price range and the shipping charges?
